Visual treat
Just back from TS Satyan's photography exhibition. I am lost for words. What an amazing set of photographs. His photographs revolved around the cultural, religious practises in India with some special moments in the Indian political history. There were a lot of photographs which really caught my attention and it was very difficult for me to actually point to one and call it the best.
There were a couple of photographs from the Jain temples of Karnataka, sadhus, temple priests exploring their daily lifestyle. Not just the temples, there were photographs of the Halakki Gowdas of Kumta, traditional courtyards of old kannadiga homes, rural weddings, workers of iron ore company of Bhadravati and others. The photographs spoke for themselves. They were such a treat to the eyes. There was this photograph of Rajmata Gayatri Devi addressing the villagers as part of the campaign for the parliamentary elections. The photograph looked so royal, something which I could visualize only in the movies.
